1. Measuring distance:
The measurement distance of the infrared thermometer is relatively short. Generally, the infrared probe is measured at a distance of more than ten centimeters from the forehead, while the measurement of the industrial thermometer needs to ensure the safety of personnel. Up to tens of meters.
2. Measuring range:
The range of infrared thermometers is generally between 3045°C, but the range of industrial thermometers is much larger, from tens of degrees below zero to more than 3,000 degrees Celsius.
3. Measurement accuracy:
Because the infrared thermometer measures the body temperature of the human body and has a small measurement range, the measurement accuracy is more accurate than that of the industrial thermometer, generally at 0.1°C.
Problems that should be paid attention to when using infrared thermometer
1. Only the surface temperature is measured, and the infrared thermometer cannot measure the internal temperature.
2. The wavelength above 5um cannot be used for temperature measurement through quartz glass. Glass has very special reflection and transmission characteristics, which does not allow accurate infrared temperature readings. But the temperature can be measured through the infrared window. Infrared thermometers are best not used for temperature measurement on bright or polished metal surfaces (stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
3. Locate the hot spot. To find the hot spot, the instrument aims at the target, and then scans up and down on the target until the hot spot is determined.
4. Pay attention to environmental conditions: steam, dust, smoke, etc. It blocks the optical system of the instrument and affects accurate temperature measurement.
5. Ambient temperature. If the thermometer is suddenly exposed to an ambient temperature difference of 20°C or higher, allow the instrument to adjust to the new ambient temperature within 20 minutes.
