What is the difference between the built-in probe and the external probe of the temperature probe
So many people who buy temperature probes with good stability wonder why there are external probes and internal probes for thermometers and hygrometers, and the difference between them. Let's take a look at the differences between the built-in probe and the external probe of the temperature probe?
different cost
As many of you who have purchased a temperature probe know, thermometers with external probes cost more than built-in probes. This is because external probe thermometers and hygrometers have more wires and sensor housings than internal probes and have different raw material costs. And since the external probe is used, the production time is greatly increased, and also the production cost is increased.
different performance
The built-in probe of the temperature probe has extremely low power consumption, and it can also reduce the influence of external factors (such as aging, vibration and volatile chemical gases) on the sensor and ensure its good stability. But because the sensor probe is built into the instrument, the digital tube in the instrument will heat the measured value when it is working, so the built-in probe of the temperature probe is interfered by itself during the measurement process, resulting in a little deviation.
Application is different
The built-in probe of the WIKA temperature probe cannot see the sensor from the outside, so the appearance is naturally wider and more beautiful. Suitable for large spaces such as data centers, smart buildings, warehouses, clean rooms, laboratories, etc. Since the external probe sensor is not suitable for measuring relatively small spaces, such as drying ovens, constant temperature and humidity boxes, refrigerators, etc., as well as displays and circuit components.
All in all, the difference between the built-in probe of a durable temperature probe and the external probe is different in cost and different in performance and different in application. The advantage of the external probe of the temperature probe is that the measurement range will be wider than that of the built-in sensor, because the sensor is not used with the display and circuit parts. However, since the thermometer and hygrometer of the external probe need wiring, and the wiring has a temperature coefficient, the longer the wiring of the external sensor, the greater the error.
