What is the effective magnification of a metallographic microscope

The product of the magnification of the objective lens and the magnification of the eyepiece. For example, if the objective lens is 10 x and the eyepiece is 10 x, the magnification is 10 x 10=100.

Eyepiece: Installed at the upper end of the lens barrel, usually 2-3 pieces are prepared, engraved with symbols of 5 x, 10 x, or 15 x to indicate its magnification. Generally, a 10 x eyepiece is installed.

Objective lens: Installed on the rotator at the bottom of the lens barrel, there are generally 3-4 objectives. The shortest one with the "10 ×" symbol is a low magnification lens, the longer one with the "40 ×" symbol is a high magnification lens, and the longest one with the "100 × (oil)" symbol is an oil lens. In addition, a circle of different colors is often added to the high magnification lens and oil lens to distinguish them.

Cleaning method for metallographic microscope
1. When cleaning various glass components, gently wipe with gauze to remove fingerprints or oil stains. Wet the gauze with a small amount of mixed solution of ethylamine (70%) and alcohol (30%);

2. Do not splash any liquid onto the microscope. If it does, immediately turn the main switch to "O", unplug the power cord, and then wipe off any liquid splashed onto or under the objective lens;

3. Do not use organic solvents to wipe non optical components of the microscope. If you want to clean these components, please use a lint free and soft cloth dipped in a small amount of neutral cleaning agent to wipe them;

4. If the objective lens is not installed, be sure to cover the objective lens mounting screw hole on the objective lens converter to prevent dust and splashed tissue culture solution from entering the inside of the lens;

5. When not using a microscope, please cover it with a dust-proof cover. Before covering the microscope, be sure to wait for the lamp holder to cool down sufficiently;

6. Do not disassemble any part of the microscope, as this may result in reduced performance or functional failure;

7. Using equipment that can emit ultraviolet radiation near the microscope may cause discoloration of the colored parts (yellow) on the surface of the microscope, avoiding direct contact with it.
