What is the reason why an electric soldering iron does not heat up after being powered on

An electric soldering iron that is not hot when powered on is usually due to the power cord falling off or the soldering iron core wire breaking. When encountering this fault, the R × lkn gear of the multimeter can be used to measure the two ends of the power plug. If the pointer of the multimeter does not move, it indicates an open circuit fault.

Firstly, check if there is any open circuit in the lead of the plug itself. If not, remove the rubber handle and measure the two leads of the soldering iron core with a multimeter. If the pointer of the multimeter still does not move, it indicates that the soldering iron core is damaged and should be replaced. The resistance value between the two leads of a 35W internal heating soldering iron core is about 1. Skfl. If the measured resistance value is normal, it indicates that the soldering iron core is good. The fault occurs in the power lead and the plug itself, and most faults are caused by a broken lead.

When replacing the soldering iron core, a new soldering iron core of the same specification should be inserted into the connecting rod, the lead should be fixed on the fixing screw, and the wiring post should be tightened. At the same time, attention should be paid to cutting off the excess part of the soldering iron core lead to prevent short circuits between the two leads.

Electric soldering iron: a tool for electronic manufacturing and electrical maintenance, generally composed of a soldering iron head, a soldering iron core, an outer shell, a wooden handle, power leads, plugs, and other parts. Its main purpose is to solder components and wires.

The working principle of an electric soldering iron: After connecting the power, it generates heat through the resistance wire of the soldering iron core, which is transmitted to the soldering iron head. The soldering tin is melted by the soldering iron head for operation.

The main reason why an electric soldering iron is not hot may be that the resistance wire in the soldering iron head is burnt out, which is a vulnerable component in the soldering iron. Just replace the soldering iron core. But it cannot rule out faults in the power cord and plug. So when encountering an electric soldering iron that is not hot, you should first use a multimeter to check the power plug and power cord, and then check the soldering iron core after troubleshooting
