Why do gas detectors need regular calibration?
A gas detector, as we all know, is an instrument used to detect a certain gas. Common gas detectors include ozone detectors, four-in-one gas detectors, VOC detectors, etc. When you buy a gas detector, the merchant will basically guide you how to adjust the gas detector, and will remind you that the gas detector needs to be calibrated regularly, but many customers will not understand it. Why does the detector need to be calibrated regularly?
1. The accuracy of the instrument is an important prerequisite for the alarm to be issued when the concentration of toxic and harmful gases or combustible gases in the detection environment reaches the preset alarm limit. Correct and timely alarm is the guarantee for personnel safety and production safety.
2. The accuracy of the detector mainly depends on the sensor. Electrochemical sensors and catalytic combustion sensors will be affected by certain substances in the environment during use and will gradually change or even become poisoned and invalid. Therefore, regular calibration of gas detectors is absolutely necessary.
3. At present, all gas detectors have not yet got rid of the method of relative measurement. Because of this, the instrument needs timely maintenance and calibration. Only after correct calibration according to the manufacturer's requirements can the accuracy of the results detected by the instrument be accurate. to be guaranteed.
4. In order to ensure that the error of the test result of the instrument does not exceed the normal range, frequent calibration is also necessary. Just like our watches, we will often calibrate with the standard time to ensure the accuracy of the time displayed by the watch. For gas detectors whose test results are related to the safety of personnel, accuracy is even more important.
Regardless of whether the instrument is used or not, or whether the instrument is good or not, it is best to calibrate the instrument regularly to achieve the goal of minimizing the error of the instrument’s test results and achieving the highest accuracy. Therefore, it is recommended to test the response of the standard gas used for the instruments before using them to ensure that the instruments really play a protective role.
