Why is RMS so important for clamp meters?


When choosing a clamp meter, we often pay more attention to the accuracy of the meter and whether it is accurate. There are many factors that affect the accuracy of a clamp meter, such as design/process, bandwidth, frequency response, etc., including whether the appropriate range is selected, which can affect the reading. The non-RMS value, that is, the average value of the instrument response, is mainly used for the measurement of standard power frequency sine waves. A common implementation principle is to convert the arithmetic mean reading x1.1 of the measurement to a sine wave "rms" reading. In simple environments that are electrified, this is no problem, such as buildings and property.
