Wiring and Measurement Methods for Multimeters
1. Wiring should be correct
The sockets or terminals on the multimeter panel have polarity markings. When used for DC measurement, it is necessary to pay attention not to reverse the positive and negative polarity; When measuring the resistance of a diode with a multimeter, that is, when distinguishing the polarity of the diode, it should be noted that the "+" socket is connected to the negative electrode of the internal battery.
When measuring current, the multimeter should be connected in series with the circuit; When measuring voltage, the multimeter should be connected in parallel with the circuit.
2. Measure the gear correctly
The measurement gear includes two aspects: the selection of the measurement object and the selection of 20%. Before measurement, the corresponding gear should be selected based on a rough estimate of the measurement object and its size.
Due to the large number of measuring objects and ranges of a multimeter, it is necessary to pay attention to gear adjustment during use, otherwise the instrument may be severely damaged. For example, when measuring voltage, if the measuring gear is placed in the ohm or current range, and when measuring high voltage and high current, using a low range range range may cause damage to the instrument.
3. The measurement of resistance should not be operated with electricity
When measuring resistance, it is not allowed to conduct it under charged conditions, otherwise it not only affects the accuracy of the measurement results, but also may burn the instrument.
4. Do not switch ranges with power
The switching of current and voltage ranges should not be carried out under live conditions, especially when there is high voltage and current, to avoid burning out the conversion switch.
