Basic usage of multimeter - measurement of diodes
Digital multimeters are widely used in diode measurement, and can measure the quality, polarity, and conduction voltage drop of diodes. First, insert the black and red test leads into the public port and the diode function jack respectively; then turn the rotary switch to the diode function position;
For a good diode with known polarity, connect the red and black test leads to its positive and negative poles respectively, and the value on the display at this time is the conduction voltage drop of the diode.
For a good diode with unknown polarity, first connect the red and black test leads to both ends of the diode in sequence, then reverse the two test leads, and then connect them once in the order of black and red test leads, and take the one with the smaller resistance value in the two measurements Measure, the red and black test leads at this time correspond to the positive and negative poles of the diode respectively.
For an unknown good or bad diode, connect the red and black test leads to both ends of the diode respectively, and then reverse the red and black test leads. If the resistance values of the two measurements are not much different, it means that the diode is broken; if the resistance values of the two measurements are close to 0 and infinity, indicating that the diode performance is good.
