Feedback from our USA customer about GVDA Two Pins Digital Wood Moisture Meter Wood Humidity Tester Hygrometer Timber Damp Detector Large LCD Display
This moisturizer meter has lot of features for a tool in it's price range. I wasn't really expecting much because quality meters can range in the hundreds or thousands of dollars. I am pleasantly pleased. It not only measures the moisture content of a variety of building materials, but it also measures relative humidity and ambient temperature. There is even a hold function that displays the min and max range.
I am a hobbyist woodworker. I especially love to turn, and there is nothing more frustrating to me than when cracks develop as a piece settles after I've spent a long time turning on it. I have quite a collection of wood in my stash, and I don't always remember how long it has been drying. This tool will help me determine when it's safe to turn (unless I'm purposely turning green blanks). If I were willing to shell out more money, I might want a tool that is calibrated especially for multiple species of wood, but this is a decent all-purpose tool that can measure everything from wood to gypsum to brick. It seems fairly accurate. Multiple testing of the same site returned repeated results within 0.1%, which is acceptable to me.
The meter appears to be well-made and comes with nice accessories including a storage pouch, two sets of pins and a wrench. I like the secure, screw back battery compartment lid. The backlit display is easy to read. There is a handy calibration table in the user manual which lists several hundred wood species. The manual fits nicely inside a pouch that is just large enough for the tool and all its accessories.
The only things I do not like about this tool are that it makes a loud beep every time a button is pushed. Also, the measurements revert to Celsius each time the unit is turned off. It is easy to convert at one touch of a button, but it would be nice if it had a memory function.
