Application of Microscopes in Automotive Components
Welding, as an important material processing method, is widely used in industrial production. With the continuous development of welding processes and advances in welding technology, industries are imposing increasingly stringent requirements on welding quality by means of weld penetration analysis systems. Industrial upgrading is urgent, and welding quality inspection by weld penetration analyzers is critical for the industrial upgrading of the machinery manufacturing sector. In response to this demand, Shanghai Yihong Optical Laboratory Equipment Factory has developed a microscope for measuring weld penetration in compliance with industry standards (HB5282‑1984: Quality Inspection of Resistance Spot Welds and Seam Welds on Structural Steel and Stainless Steel; HB5276‑1984: Weld Penetration Inspection Microscope for Quality Inspection of Resistance Spot Welds and Seam Welds on Aluminum Alloys). This welding quality inspection system is equipped with units for specimen cutting at welding spots, pre‑grinding, polishing and chemical treatment, the weld penetration microscope system (ZOOM‑660E), and a planar image measuring system (CF‑2000C).
The system can perform imaging, editing, measurement, data export and report printing for the weld penetration of butt, lap, fillet and T‑joint welds of welded workpieces. It is especially suitable for weld penetration inspection on automotive jigs, fixtures, molds, automotive checking fixtures, weld penetration detectors, automotive seat components, automotive safety belts, welded automotive spare parts, automotive filters and other welded components. The following shows actual cutting, shooting and measurement results obtained by this weld penetration measuring microscope from the manufacturer. Compared with similar products, this system delivers clear imaging, high contrast and high precision for computer‑based weld penetration measurement, and achieves true‑color observation and photography.
Weld inspection using a weld penetration microscope covers the inspection of materials, tools, measuring equipment, process parameters and finished‑part quality throughout the whole production cycle from drawing design to finished product. Weld penetration inspection is divided into three stages: pre‑weld inspection, in‑process inspection during welding, and post‑weld inspection of finished welds. According to whether damage is caused to the workpiece, inspection methods for weld penetration of pressure vessels, steel boilers and pipelines are classified into destructive testing and non‑destructive testing.
