Digital multimeter to measure capacitance steps

1, Measurement method for capacitance capacity
Before connecting the capacitor to be tested, it is important to note that it takes time to reset each time the measurement range is changed. The presence of drift readings will not affect the accuracy of the test.

1. Short circuit the two ends of the capacitor to discharge it and ensure the safety of the digital multimeter.

2. Turn the function knob switch to capacitor mode "F" and select the appropriate range.

3. Insert the capacitor into the capacitance test socket.

4. Read the numbers on the display screen.

2, Measurement steps for capacitance
Taking the measurement of capacitance at 0.01 μ F (103) as an example, the measurement process is as follows:
Step 1: Rotate to a capacitance range of 20 μ F.

Step 2: Use a probe to discharge the capacitor.

Step 3: Insert the capacitor into the multimeter capacitor socket, turn on the multimeter power switch, observe the reading, and measure the capacitance to 0.095 μ F.

Step 4: Rotate to the capacitance range of 2 μ F and measure the capacitance to 0.103 μ F.

Step 5: Rotate to the capacitance range of 200nF, and measure the capacitance to be 105nF=0.105 μ F.

Step 6: Rotate to the capacitance range of 20nF, and the measured capacitance display is "1.", indicating that the range is not sufficient.

3, Precautions
1. The capacitor needs to be discharged before measurement, otherwise it is easy to damage the multimeter.

2. After measurement, discharge should also be carried out to avoid burying safety hazards.

3. The capacitor level has already been protected, so there is no need to consider polarity and capacitor charging and discharging during the capacitor testing process.

4. When measuring capacitance, insert the capacitor into a dedicated capacitance test socket.

5. Stable readings are required for measuring large capacitors over a certain period of time.
