Five Serious Optical Microscope Missteps

First, in the use of some conventional microscopes, such as biological, somatoscopic microscopes, etc., due to the microscope's optical lens is exposed, the human hand can be touched, some experimental personnel intentionally or unintentionally touch the eyepiece or objective lens of the optical lens part, which is very undesirable, generally speaking, the price of the microscope is very high, which is the most valuable part of the optical lens, the optical lens is the heart of the entire instrument, the center is also the most fragile, fog, oil, water, sweat, will cause damage to the optical lens. Optical lens for the microscope is the heart of the instrument, the center, but also the most vulnerable, fog, oil, water, sweat, will cause damage to the optical lens. In the factory manual of the optical microscope, it is clearly proposed that the optical part of the microscope can not be touched, the light will cause pollution to the optical microscope lens, and even serious permanent damage to the lens of the microscope.

Second, for biological microscopes, only biological sections can be observed. Sometimes, in view of some special items, can only be temporarily made into simple slices, not encapsulated with a coverslip, and often the samples are liquid substances. At such times, some operators move the microscope or tilt it, which is a very serious mistake. Because of the liquid sample, when the microscope is tilted, the liquid sample will flow out onto the stage or spotting scope part of the microscope. This can lead to serious damage to the microscope's spotting scope, which is more than worth it. It is correct to avoid moving the microscope or tilting it when using such temporary sections.

Third, when loading the sections, the first thing to do is to focus the microscope. This is especially true of the high magnification objective, which is very close to the specimen and even touches the surface of the specimen for the inexperienced operator. Often, the well-made microscope specimen will be crushed, which is a minor, serious damage to the objective lens part of the Olympus BX43. The correct method of operation is to observe the specimen with a high-magnification objective lens is, do not look at the eyepiece with both eyes only, and adjust the focus with both hands. Rather, while focusing, pay attention to the observation of the specimen and the objective lens of the specific, in order to avoid the objective lens crushed slices and damage to the objective lens.

Fourth, when using the focusing system of the microscope, the speed of rotation is too fast or the use of too much strength, the light will cause the microscope to shake or unstable, the heavier will cause damage to the focusing system of the microscope, which is also a part of the undesirable operation, is a very bad habit. The manufacturer's field instructions clearly state that when adjusting the microscope's focusing system, the force used must be small and gentle. The rotation speed should be slow, if the focusing is difficult due to the hardware of the microscope. Do not use brute force to twist the knob, and should contact the microscope manufacturer's technical engineers for on-site maintenance.

Fifth, after using the microscope, many users directly leave the laboratory, which is also very wrong practice, the correct practice is to first clean up the microscope, first of all, the microscope objective lens is wiped, especially 100 times oil lens, in order to avoid the objective lens is contaminated. If the use of environmental humidity, especially in the southern region, the lens is easy to fog mold, so the requirements of the use of the microscope placed in a special microscope storage box, and put the desiccant in it, so far, the microscope storage work is complete.
