How different industries use infrared thermometers

 

In the glass industry, products are also in motion and must be heated to very high temperatures. Infrared thermometers are used to monitor the temperature in furnaces. Handheld sensors detect hot spots by measuring the outside. Measure the temperature of the molten glass to determine the appropriate furnace mouth temperature. In flat glass products, sensors detect the temperature at each processing stage. The wrong temperature or too rapid a temperature change can cause uneven expansion or contraction. For bottle and container products, the molten glass flows to a forehearth that is kept at the same temperature. Infrared thermometers are used to detect the temperature of the forehearth glass. So it should be in the appropriate state at the exit point. In fiberglass products, infrared sensors are used in processing furnaces to detect the temperature of the glass in the forehearth. Another use of infrared sensors in the glass industry is in the process of windshield glass products.


Infrared Thermometer Plastic Industry
In the plastics industry, infrared thermometers are used to avoid product contamination, measure dynamic objects and measure high-temperature plastics. As the blown film is ejected, temperature measurements to adjust for heating and cooling can help maintain the integrity of the plastic's tension and its thickness. During the ejection process of the thrown film, the sensor helps control the temperature to ensure the thickness and uniformity of the product. As the sheet is being extruded, sensors allow the operator to adjust the extinguishing of the heater and cold roll to maintain product quality.


Preventive maintenance of infrared thermometer
Using a portable thermal display system, infrared thermometer maintenance personnel can identify potential or existing problems. For example: overheated engine coil windings, plugged cooling fins on the transformer, capacitor contacts, and heat build-up in the cylinder head of the compressor. Any problem that occurs is accompanied by an increase in temperature, or a temperature curve that is completely different from the surrounding temperature, which can be located with a portable thermal display system. In most cases, problems can be discovered and corrected in time before the process is required to stop.


Infrared Thermometer Chemical Industry
In the petrochemical industry, refineries use temperature display systems as part of routine preventive maintenance procedures, including monitoring furnace processes and confirming thermocouple readings. In furnace process inspection, infrared monitors are used to detect the proportion of carbon accumulated in the heating surface tubes. This build-up, known as coking, results in higher firing rates in the furnace and also increases tube temperatures. This high temperature condition will reduce the life of the tube. Because this coking will prevent the product from absorbing the heat of the tube evenly. When using an infrared thermometer, we will find that the surface temperature of the pipe in the intersection area is often higher than the surface temperature of the pipe in other areas.
