How long is the general service life of a gas detector?

With the increasing emphasis on work safety, industrial enterprises, especially chemical enterprises, have become more sophisticated and proficient in the equipment and use of safety devices and facilities. However, I would like to remind everyone that any device or facility has a service life. Once it exceeds the safe service life, it should be shut down in a timely manner and handed over to a testing institution for inspection. If a safety device is damaged or determined to be inoperable through testing, the company should prohibit its use, register the situation, scrap it, and replace it with new equipment. Below, I will take gas detectors as an example to explain the service life of the most sensitive component in gas detection devices - the sensor, for your reference.

QB2000N/QB10N Gas Detector
The common sensor in gas detectors is an electrochemical sensor. The average service life of this type of sensor is two years. In special environments such as severely polluted areas, extremely high or low temperatures, and extremely high or low humidity, the service life of the sensor will be shortened. It is especially important to note that once the electrochemical sensor is unpacked, it starts to wear out. Even if the company does not use it after unpacking, the sensor must be tested or replaced with a new product after its service life expires. It is recommended that the company install and use the detector in a timely manner after receiving it, and calibrate the detector every year to ensure its normal operation.

GC210 Portable Gas Detector
The GC210 portable gas detector is a commonly seen gas detector in the market. The service life of the sensor assembled in the detector is generally two years, and it will be shortened in special environments such as those with heavy pollution. Moreover, the service life of the electronic components of the detector is generally relatively long.

Although the service life of the sensor is specified in the specifications of gas detectors and gas alarms, the actual service life of the sensor depends on its usage environment. Factors such as temperature, humidity, and dust will reduce the service life of the sensor and decrease its sensitivity. Therefore, the sensor must be tested and calibrated at any time, and if it malfunctions, it should be replaced with a new one in a timely manner.
