How to ensure accurate use of the thermometer

Accurate measurement of thermometers plays a crucial role in accurately screening fever patients. If the temperature is not accurately measured, it will not only fail to play its due role, but also cause chaos and panic.

Firstly, it is important to understand that human body temperature is divided into body temperature and surface temperature. Simply put, body temperature refers to the internal temperature of the human body, while body surface temperature refers to the surface temperature of the human body. To determine whether a person has a fever, it is the body temperature, not the surface temperature.

The thermometers used for temperature measurement can be divided into two categories:

Contact thermometer and non-contact thermometer

Contact thermometers include glass thermometers and medical electronic thermometers

Non contact thermometers include infrared forehead thermometers, infrared ear thermometers, infrared screening cameras, thermal imagers, etc.

Relatively speaking, contact thermometers measure the most accurately, while non-contact thermometers are ranked by accuracy

Infrared ear thermometer>Infrared forehead thermometer/Small part thermal imager>Infrared screening camera/Partial thermal imager.

The most commonly used devices in this epidemic prevention and control work are infrared thermometers, infrared screening cameras, and thermal imagers.

Accurate measurement of thermometers plays a crucial role in accurately screening fever patients.

Infrared thermometers have high environmental requirements, and if used improperly, they are prone to deviation. For example, infrared thermometers require an operating environment of (16~35) ℃, but currently it is winter and there is a large temperature difference between indoors and outdoors. If the room temperature in the community security room is 20 ℃ and temperature checks are conducted on external visitors, it is highly likely that their temperature will drop below 35 ℃. Therefore, at toll stations on highways, it is required to turn off the air conditioning and roll down the windows in advance to reduce the temperature difference between inside and outside the car and minimize measurement errors. In addition, whether the measured object has bangs or not, and whether the face cream is rubbed or not will cause measurement errors. Finally, it's about measuring the distance. Following the instructions or measuring 3-5 centimeters is not a problem, but if it's pressed against the forehead, it may not be accurate.
