How to prevent dust from optical microscope
The dust falling on the surface of the optical components is extremely difficult to remove, so it is extremely important to prevent the dust from falling into the lens barrel, the inside of the objective lens body and the inside of all optical path pipes. For this reason, microscope operators must develop a living habit: pay attention to dust prevention at all times. For example, when unscrewing the objective lens, it must be turned down and placed on a clean table. Or put it into the objective lens box immediately; please refer to the method of pulling out the eyepiece, and cover the lens opening with a lens plug or a clean paper cap ;When replacing the photomicrograph obscura, photomultiplier, and light barrier base, cover the connection cover at hand, and never leave a gap for dust to fall into; When dust is found on optical surfaces such as lenses, prisms, and reflectors, first use an ear cleaning ball to blow it repeatedly until the dust particles are completely eliminated. When some dust particles still do not fall off, they can be cleaned with a clean, dry brush, and a soft brush. Of course, this kind of removal work is extremely troublesome and requires patience. Never rub hard with fingers or coarse cloth.
When the surface of the optical set is stained with oil, it is necessary to clean the oil and at the same time pay special attention to protecting the optical finish of the mirror surface. The most common cleaning is the front lens of oil immersion objectives. Every time you finish using this type of objective lens, it must be cleaned, and the immersion oil must not be allowed to dry up on the surface of the objective lens. The most common method for this is to drop a drop of pure xylene on the lens-cleaning paper, place it on the front lens of the objective lens, and gently press it with your fingers to pull out the lens-cleaning paper once or several times. Never force the front lens of the objective lens with a coarse cloth. Wipe, let alone rub with fingertips. The degree of damage to the optical surface caused by the coarse fiber and finger keratinized epidermal cells is very serious, and a scratch on the optical surface is enough to interfere with the concentricity of the imaging beam.
In daily work, it is easy to stain the dry objective lens with oil, so when it is found that the field of view of the microscope is not clear, the objective lens should be removed for inspection. The inspection method is not complicated. First, remove the objective lens and hold the objective lens by hand, and at the same time take the eyepiece. The front lens of the objective lens is upward, and the eyepiece lens of the eyepiece is downward. When the oil stain has been removed, but there are still color lines left by the volatilization of xylene, you can gently wipe it with soft deerskin. The fibers of kneaded leather are far softer than those of fine silk cloth. In daily work, it is often encountered that untrained microscope operators wipe the objective lens with their fingers or roughly wipe the objective lens with a rough cloth, which is an absolutely unacceptable vice.
When the reflective mirror, condenser mirror and prism mirror are not clean, the following formula can also be used to prepare a cleaning solution for cleaning:
Sodium methyl acetate 65%
Ethanol 30%
Diethyl ether 5%
When wiping the surface of optical components, special attention should be paid to maintaining the original position and angle of each optical component. During the cleaning process, if you touch a certain component and make it deviate from the optical path, please do not repair it yourself.
