How to use a digital multimeter to measure the quality of a single-phase motor

Oct 01, 2022

1. Turn the multimeter to the 200 ohm block, and measure the three-phase resistances respectively. If the three-phase resistances are the same and the difference is not large, it can be preliminarily judged that the three-phase windings are basically normal and there is no inter-turn short circuit.

2. Measure whether it is grounded, because the motor is burned, and sometimes it is also grounded. If one end of the ×1K or ×10k two test leads touch the wire end and the other end touches the casing, the pointer is intact, and if it moves and the amplitude is large, it is not good.

3. If the motor is a single-phase motor, you can measure the resistance of the main windings U1 and U2 and the secondary windings Z1 and Z2. Generally, the resistance of the secondary winding is greater than that of the main winding. If the resistance of the secondary winding is smaller than that of the main winding The resistance value indicates that the motor is burnt out.
