How to Use Fluke Clamp Ammeters
Clamp ammeter is a kind of instrument used to measure the size of the current of the electrical line which is running, and can measure the current under the condition of no power supply.
1. Clamp ammeter structure and principle:
Clamp ammeter is essentially by a current transformer, clamp spanner and a rectified magnetic electric system has a reaction force instrumentation.
2. Clamp ammeter method of use:
(1) Measurement before the mechanical zero must be adjusted
(2) Select the appropriate range, first select the large, then select the small range or look at the nameplate value estimate.
(3) When using * small range measurement, its reading is not yet obvious, the measured wire can be wound a few turns, the number of turns to the jaws of the central number of turns shall prevail, then the reading = indicated value × range / full bias × number of turns
(4) Measurement, the measured wire should be in the centre of the jaws, and make the jaws close tightly to reduce the error.
(5) Measurement is complete, the clamp-on ammeter switch on the * in the range.
3. Clamp ammeter use precautions:
(1) The voltage of the measured line should be lower than the rated voltage of the clamp meter.
(2) When measuring the current of high-voltage lines, wear insulating gloves, insulating shoes, and stand on insulating mats.
(3) The jaws of the clamp ammeter should be closed tightly and should not be charged to change the range.
