Introduction to the Characteristics of Bubble Level

The bubble level is a measuring instrument used to check whether the installation surface or flat plate of a machine is level, and to measure the direction and angle of inclination. Its appearance is made of steel and the base must be flat after precision processing. The center of the base surface is equipped with a glass tube with a longitudinal and circular shape, and there are also horizontal small horizontal glass tubes added at the left end. The tube is filled with ether or alcohol, and there is a small bubble left, which is always located at a high point in the tube. There are graduation marks on both ends of the bubbles on the glass cylinder. Usually, when installing machines in factories, the sensitivity of commonly used bubble level instruments is 0.01mm/m, 0.02mm/m

Specifications such as 0.04mm/m, 0.05mm/m, 0.1mm/m, 0.3mm/m, and 0.4mm/m refer to placing the level on a 1m long straight gauge or flat plate. When there is a difference in sensitivity indication at one end, such as a sensitivity of 0.01 mm/m, it indicates a height difference of 0.01 mm between the two ends of the straight gauge or flat plate (equivalent to a difference of 2 seconds between the two ends). When a 1m long straight gauge or flat plate has a height difference of h mm, the bubble will have a difference in scale. The principle of a bubble level meter is to use the characteristic that bubbles can often remain in a high position inside a glass tube

For a certain tilt angle, in order to increase the movement of bubbles (i.e. good sensitivity), it is necessary to increase the arc radius (R). If the distance between each scale of the level is 2 mm and the sensitivity is 0.01 mm/m, the difference between the two ends of 1 m is 2 seconds. The bubble tube has a radius of 206.185 meters and is installed inside the frame. Different sensitivities have different radii, which are not directly related to the length of the frame.

When using a level gauge, it should be checked first. First, place the level gauge on a flat plate, read the scale size of the bubbles, then reverse the level gauge to the same position, and then read its scale size. If the readings are the same, it indicates that the relationship between the level gauge base and the bubble tube is correct. Otherwise, it is necessary to use fine-tuning screws to adjust until the readings are completely the same before proceeding with the measurement work. If you want to check the accuracy of the level, you can use a known angle size composed of a sine bar and a measuring block. At the same time, to measure a large inclination angle, it can also be used in conjunction with a sine bar and a level.

The new level, as a substitute for the traditional bubble type tilt angle, is now more widely used in road engineering, mechanical surveying, construction engineering, industrial platforms, petroleum surveying, ships, and other situations that require tilt or level under a gravity reference frame.
