Master these troubleshooting methods for metallographic microscopes
The metallographic microscope is used for metallographic examination of metal materials. It is not difficult to operate. However, if you do not understand the basics of metallographic examination, it is still difficult to start metallographic examination. The difficult part of metallographic examination is sample preparation. If the sample is not done well, you will not be able to see the desired tissue in the metallographic microscope. For those who do not understand metallographic examination, even if the image appears in the microscope, you will not be able to see it. Know what it is. Therefore, the editor recommends that you spend some time reading this article and related articles to make it easier to get started.
A metallographic microscope is a precision optical instrument. As long as it is purchased regularly, there will be no major faults. However, some problems will inevitably occur during use due to unskilled operation. The editor will tell you about some common problems and solutions to metallographic microscopes.
1. The bulb is bright but the light in the field of view is very dark. Possible causes and solutions:
The field diaphragm is not wide enough, just open the field diaphragm wider;
The dimming handwheel is set too low, adjust it to the appropriate position;
If the analyzer or polarizer plug-in board is used, just pull out the plug-in board.
2. The edge of the field of view is dark or the light and shade are uneven. Possible causes and solutions:
The converter is not in the positioning position, turn the converter to the positioning position;
There is dirt on the eyepiece or objective lens. Clean the eyepiece or objective lens;
The color filter, polarizer, and analyzer insert plates are not in the correct position. Insert the insert plates or move them out of the optical path.
3. The light bulb does not light up. Possible causes and solutions:
No power supply, connect the power supply;
The light bulb wire plug-in connection is poor, connect it correctly;
The bulb is installed incorrectly, install it correctly;
The light bulb is burned out. Replace the light bulb.
4. The coarse handwheel is very tight. The reason is that the elastic adjustment ring is locked too tightly. Please loosen it appropriately.
Some customers find that the image observed by the metallographic microscope they purchased is clear in the middle and blurred at the edges. What is going on?
Generally, metallographic microscopes that produce images with clear middle and blurred edges are equipped with achromatic objectives. When this happens, some low-end microscopes on the market will also appear. The achromatic objective lens is a concave lens, and the image observed with it is curved, so the clear edges in the middle will be blurred. If you want a metallographic microscope with good imaging effects, at least choose a plan achromatic objective. Plan achromatic objectives have been corrected so that the observed image is flat, so this phenomenon does not occur.
