More infrared thermometer applications and principles

The infrared thermometer consists of an optical system, a photodetector, a signal amplifier, signal processing, display output, and other components. The optical system concentrates the infrared radiation energy of the target within its field of view, and the size of the field of view is determined by the optical components and their positions of the thermometer. Infrared energy is focused on the photodetector and converted into corresponding electrical signals. The signal is amplified and processed by a signal processing circuit, and then converted into the temperature value of the measured target after being calibrated according to the algorithm and target emissivity of the instrument's internal therapy.

Infrared diagnostic technology can reliably predict early faults, defects, and insulation performance of electrical equipment, elevating the preventive testing and maintenance of traditional electrical equipment (which was introduced as a standard in the former Soviet Union in the 1950s) to predictive maintenance. This is also the direction of modern power enterprise development. Especially with the development of large power units and ultra-high voltage, there are increasingly higher requirements for the reliable operation of the power system, which is related to the stability of the power grid. With the continuous development, maturity, and improvement of modern science and technology, the use of infrared status monitoring and diagnostic technology has the characteristics of long-distance, non-contact, non sampling, non disassembly, accuracy, speed, and intuitiveness. It can monitor and diagnose most faults of electrical equipment in real time online (almost covering the detection of various faults of all electrical equipment).

It has received great attention from the domestic and foreign power industry (an advanced state maintenance system widely used in the late 1970s abroad) and has developed rapidly. The application of infrared detection technology is of great significance in improving the reliability and effectiveness of electrical equipment, enhancing operational economic benefits, and reducing maintenance costs. It is a widely promoted and effective method in the field of predictive maintenance, which can also elevate the level of maintenance and equipment health.

Infrared temperature measurement technology plays an important role in product quality control and monitoring, online fault diagnosis and protection of equipment, and energy conservation in the production process. In the past 20 years, non-contact infrared thermometers have developed rapidly in technology, with continuously improved performance, enhanced functions, an increasing variety of products, and an expanding range of applications. Their market share has been increasing year by year. Compared to contact based temperature measurement methods, infrared temperature measurement has advantages such as fast response time, non-contact, easy to use, and long service life. Non contact infrared thermometers include three series: portable, online, and scanning, and are equipped with various options and computer software. Each series also has various models and specifications. Choosing the correct infrared thermometer model is crucial for users among various types of thermometers with different specifications.
