Multimeter wiring and measurement methods

1. Wiring must be correct
The jacks or binding posts on the multi-surface panel are marked with polarity markings. When using it for DC measurement, you must be careful not to reverse the positive and negative polarities; when using a multimeter to measure the diode resistance, that is, when judging the diode polarity, you should note that its "+" jack is connected to the negative pole of the included battery.

When measuring current, the multimeter should be connected in series with the circuit; when measuring voltage, the multimeter should be connected in parallel with the circuit.

2. The measurement gear must be correct
The measurement gear includes the selection of the measurement object and the selection of 20%. Before measurement, the corresponding gear should be selected based on a rough estimate of the measurement object and its size.

Since the multimeter has many measuring objects and many measuring ranges, you must pay attention to the adjustment of the gear when using it, otherwise the meter may be seriously damaged. For example, when measuring voltage, if the measurement range is placed in the ohm range or current range, and if a low-range range is used when measuring large voltages and large currents, the meter may be damaged.

3. The measurement of resistance must not be performed while charging
When measuring resistance, it is not allowed to carry out it under the condition of electrification, otherwise it will not only affect the accuracy of the measurement results, but also may burn out the meter.

4. Do not switch the range while the power is on
When switching between current and voltage ranges, do not perform it while the power is on, especially when carrying large voltage and current, in order to avoid burning out the transfer switch.
