Precautions and instrument maintenance for the use of digital clamp ammeters

1. Precautions in measurement
(1) Measuring voltage higher than AC 600 volts in a circuit can cause electric shock accidents or instrument damage.

(2) Before conducting current measurements, remove all test wires from the instrument to avoid touching live conductors.

(3) Try to avoid strong magnetic fields as much as possible to avoid the accuracy of strong magnetic field measurement data.

(4) When the jaws cannot be completely closed, do not force them to close. You can open the jaws and try again. If there is foreign object stuck at the end of the jaws, it should be removed immediately.

(5) On any range, it should be ensured that the measured current does not exceed the maximum allowable measurement value of this range.

(6) Do not switch the range switch with a load during the measurement process.

(7) After the measurement is completed, the selection switch should be placed in the off position to prevent battery leakage or accidental burning of the instrument during the next measurement.

2. Instrument maintenance

(1) The clamp ammeter should be regularly maintained and calibrated to detect problems and hidden dangers in a timely manner and ensure normal use. When maintaining, first check the appearance of each component and part of the meter for damage. Use a soft brush or cotton cloth to wipe off the floating dust, then dip in a small amount of non corrosive solvent or water to carefully wipe it clean and dry. During maintenance, the battery box can be opened for inspection or cleaning, but the case of the meter should not be opened. When verifying, it is necessary to use a meter of the same type with good performance to measure the same measured current, and the results should be consistent. Otherwise, it indicates that the calibrated meter has malfunctioned or damaged, and needs to be calibrated or repaired. The maintenance and calibration cycle is usually three months or after frequent use of meters, maintenance or calibration should be carried out.

(2) After maintenance or calibration, the clamp ammeter should be stored in a well ventilated indoor shelf or cabinet; The indoor air should not contain corrosive or harmful components; The environment should be dry, the temperature should be suitable, and meet the requirements specified in the meter; Under no circumstances shall the meter be subjected to severe mechanical vibration; If there is a battery inside, it must be removed to prevent battery leakage and damage to the meter; Indoor lighting should not be too strong, and direct sunlight on the meter is strictly prohibited, as its plastic casing will accelerate aging under the action of sunlight, and LCD screens are even more afraid of sunlight exposure.
