Reasons for inaccurate coating thickness gauge measurements
Inaccurate measurement results of coating thickness gauges are mainly caused by the following reasons:
1. Interference from strong magnetic field. When the instrument operates near strong electromagnetic fields, measurements will be seriously interfered with. If you are very close to the electromagnetic field, a crash may occur.
2. Human factors. During the measurement process, if the user is not familiar with the thickness gauge, the probe may deviate from the body being measured, causing changes in magnetic flux and causing erroneous measurements. Therefore, when using this instrument for the first time, you must master the measurement method. The placement of the probe has a great influence on the measurement. The probe should be kept perpendicular to the surface of the sample during measurement. And the probe should not be placed for too long to avoid interference from the magnetic field of the matrix itself.
3. Failure to select a suitable matrix during system correction. The smallest plane of the substrate is 7mm and the minimum thickness is 0.2mm. Measurement below this critical condition is unreliable.
4. The influence of attached substances. The coating thickness gauge is sensitive to attached substances that prevent the probe from being in close contact with the surface of the coating. Therefore, the attached substances must be removed to ensure direct contact between the probe and the surface of the coating. When performing system correction, the surface of the selected substrate must also be bare and smooth.
5. The instrument fails. Repair by technicians or return to factory for repair.
Application areas of coating thickness gauges
1. Electroplating and spraying: Electroplating or spraying on metal surfaces can effectively protect the service life of raw materials and play a beautiful role. Therefore, a large number of electroplating factories and spraying industries have emerged. At the same time, coating thickness gauges have also been developed for the development of the coating industry. .
2. Metal hardware industry: Hardware workpieces are prone to oxidation and corrosion when exposed to the air for a long time. Therefore, one or more protective coating layers are required on the surface, and buyers and sellers need to test the products.
3. Machinery manufacturing industry: chrome plating of molds, hard chrome plating of rollers, chrome plating of automobile surfaces, and galvanizing of accessories all require coating thickness testing to provide more effective protection for workpieces.
4. Steel structure: Enterprises with our products can also be classified as an industry separately. Coating thickness gauges do have a lot of applications in this industry, including iron towers, bridges, supports, highway barriers, ship plates and many other related manufacturers. They are also in high demand.
