The difference between upright metallographic microscope and inverted metallographic microscope in application

The difference between the upright type and the inverted type is simply that the upright sample is placed on the bottom and the inverted sample is placed on the top. The upright objective lens points downwards, and the inverted objective lens points upwards.

In the inverted metallographic microscope, since the observation surface of the sample coincides with the surface of the workbench downwards, the observation objective lens is located below the workbench and observes upward. This form of observation is not limited by the height of the sample. When preparing the sample, as long as one observation surface is flat , so it is widely used in factory laboratories, scientific research institutions and schools. The base of the inverted metallographic microscope has a large supporting area, a low center of gravity, and is extremely stable and reliable. The eyepieces and the supporting surface are tilted at 45°C, making observation comfortable.

The upright metallographic microscope has the same basic functions as the inverted metallographic microscope. In addition to analyzing and identifying metal samples with a height of 20-30mm, it is more widely used in transparent, translucent or opaque applications because it conforms to people's daily habits. substance. The upright metallographic microscope produces an upright image during observation, which brings great convenience to the user's observation and identification. In addition to analyzing and identifying metal samples with a height of 20-30mm, observation targets larger than 3 microns and smaller than 20 microns, such as cermets, electronic chips, printed circuits, LCD substrates, films, fibers, granular objects, coatings and other material surfaces Structures and traces can all have good imaging effects.

Optical failure analysis of microscopes
The two microscope images do not overlap. In binocular eyepiece observation, sometimes the phenomenon of double images not overlapping occurs. The phenomenon of double images not overlapping does not matter because the length compensation of the two lens tubes is inconsistent. The magnification of the two eyepieces is quite different, and the vibration during use or transportation may cause binocular failure. This is caused by three reasons including the movement of the prism. For the first two reasons, they have been calibrated and selected at the factory. They can be solved as long as you pay attention to the method and configuration during use.

The third reason for the microscope is more common. At this time, the binocular housing should be opened, a cross ruler should be placed on the platform, and 10X reticle eyepieces should be inserted into the left and right lens tubes for observation, and the position and angle of the binocular prism should be corrected. , and when the binocular eyepieces are rotated to different angles for observation, the position of the cross scale is at the same position in the field of view of the left and right eyepieces, and then tightened.

When observing binocularly with a microscope, sometimes the brightness and color of the left and right fields of view are inconsistent, thus affecting the observation. This is because the dichroic film of the dichroic prism has been damaged. At this time, the dichroic prism should be removed and sent to the microscope manufacturer for re-coating before assembly and use. .
