The distinction between a laser rangefinder and an ultrasonic rangefinder
In order to compute the real distance between an obstacle and the transmitting point, one must first determine the speed at which ultrasonic waves travel through the air, then measure the amount of time it takes for obstacles to reflect the sound waves after they have been communicated. The counting and display circuit, ultrasonic receiving and amplifying circuit, and ultrasonic generating circuit make up the ultrasonic distance meter.
A laser rangefinder is a device that precisely calculates the distance to a target using a laser. When operating, the laser rangefinder sends a very weak laser beam to the target, and the photoelectric element receives the laser beam that is reflected by the target.
The distinction between a laser rangefinder and an ultrasonic rangefinder
1. The ultrasonic rangefinder's measurement accuracy is at the centimeter level, whereas the laser rangefinder's measurement accuracy is at the millimeter level;
2. In terms of measurement range, handheld laser rangefinders have a range of up to 200 meters, and laser rangefinders have a range of up to hundreds of kilometers. Ultrasonic rangefinders typically have a measurement range of 80 meters or less. Further still (laser ranging telescopes usually measure with an accuracy of 1 meter or tens of centimeters).
3. Errors in the ultrasonic range finder are simple to report. Due to the fan-shaped sound waves that are emitted by the ultrasonic range finder, more sound waves will be reflected back and interfere with each other when they travel through a lot of barriers. This makes it simple to detect faults. Since the laser rangefinder uses a very narrow laser beam that is both sent out and returned, there is essentially no interference as long as the beam can pass.
4. Depending on the precision and distance, laser rangefinders can cost several hundred yuan to several thousand or even tens of thousands of yuan. Ultrasonic rangefinders cost between tens and hundreds of yuan.
