The reasons for inaccurate measurement results from a coating thickness gauge are as follows

 

1. Interference from strong magnetic field. When the instrument operates near strong electromagnetic fields, measurements will be seriously interfered with. If you are very close to the electromagnetic field, a crash may occur.


2. Human factors. During the measurement process, if the user is not familiar with the thickness gauge, the probe may deviate from the body being measured, causing changes in magnetic flux and causing erroneous measurements. Therefore, when using this instrument for the first time, you must master the measurement method. The placement of the probe has a great influence on the measurement. The probe should be kept perpendicular to the surface of the sample during measurement. And the probe should not be placed for too long to avoid interference from the magnetic field of the matrix itself.


3. Failure to select a suitable matrix during system correction. The smallest plane of the substrate is 7mm and the minimum thickness is 0.2mm. Measurement below this critical condition is unreliable.


4. The influence of attached substances. The coating thickness gauge is sensitive to attached substances that prevent the probe from being in close contact with the surface of the coating. Therefore, the attached substances must be removed to ensure direct contact between the probe and the surface of the coating. When performing system correction, the surface of the selected substrate must also be bare and smooth.


5. The instrument fails. Repair by technicians or return to factory for repair.
