Twelve Requirements for the Maintenance and Upkeep of Metallurgical Microscopes

As a high-precision instrument, the metallurgical microscope requires careful daily maintenance. Proper upkeep protects the device and ensures stable performance. In production and research work, microscopes are essential. Minor faults may occur after long-term use, so daily maintenance and standard operation are necessary.

. The laboratory must meet three protection conditions: anti-vibration, keep away from vibration sources; moisture-proof, use air conditioners and desiccators; dust-proof, lay floor covering. Power supply: 220V±10%, 50Hz. Temperature range: 0°C to 40°C.

. Avoid contact between the objective lens and the specimen during focusing to prevent scratches.

. Do not switch objective lenses when the center hole of the stage gasket is misaligned with the objective center.

. Do not adjust brightness suddenly or set it too high, which shortens bulb life and harms eyesight.

. Operate all function switches gently and make sure they are fully positioned.

. Turn the brightness to the minimum before turning off the power.

. Non-professionals shall not adjust the illumination system to avoid affecting imaging quality.

. Be careful of high temperature when replacing halogen lamps to prevent burns. Do not touch the lamp glass directly with hands.

. After power off, lower the objective lens to the lowest position by the focusing mechanism.

. Do not cover the dust cover immediately after shutdown. Install it after cooling and pay attention to fire prevention.

. Place infrequently used optical parts inside a desiccator.

. Non-professionals are not allowed to clean objective lenses and other optical components. Clean eyepieces with degreased cotton swabs dipped in a 3:7 mixture of anhydrous alcohol and ether. Do not use other liquids.

Following these twelve rules can extend the service life of the microscope, reduce costs and improve working efficiency.
