A multimeter is a common electronic measuring instrument used to measure electrical quantities such as voltage, current, and resistance. 1, Usage method
Select measurement range: Adjust the measurement range gear of the multimeter based on the estimated value of the circuit to be tested. Generally, the maximum range gear is selected first, and then the range is gradually reduced to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.

 

Insert red and black probes: Open the protective cover of the multimeter plug, insert the red probe into the socket for measuring current and voltage, and insert the black probe into the COM socket. If you need to measure resistance, simply insert the red and black probes without distinguishing between positive and negative.

 

Measure voltage: Insert the red and black probes into the positive and negative terminals of the power supply, and read the voltage value of the power supply. Note that when measuring voltage, the range gear that is close to the measured voltage should be selected.

 

Measure current: Disconnect a current path in the circuit, insert the red probe into the positive pole of the current, and insert the black probe into the negative pole of the current to form a current path. Read the current value in the circuit. Similarly, when measuring current, it is necessary to select a current range gear that is similar to the measured current.

 

Measure resistance: Connect the red and black probes at both ends of the resistance to be measured to a multimeter and directly read the resistance value. If the resistance is too small to measure, it can be measured by connecting other resistors in series or selecting a smaller resistance range.

 

Multi functional testing: In addition to basic measurement functions, the multimeter also has some additional functions, such as testing the forward and reverse voltage of diodes, testing the amplification factor of transistors, etc. These functions are usually marked with corresponding symbols on the knob of the multimeter.

 

2, Precautions

Safe use of electricity: Before conducting any circuit measurements, it is necessary to confirm that the circuit is not powered on to avoid the risk of electric shock.

 

Choose the appropriate range gear: When selecting the range gear, try to choose the gear closest to the measured resistance, voltage, or current to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.

 

Avoid short circuits: The metal probes at both ends of the measuring leads of the multimeter should be well insulated to prevent short circuits.

 

Do not apply too much force: When inserting the red and black probes, do not apply too much force to avoid damaging the plug or causing errors.
