Use a thermometer skillfully to eliminate hidden dangers in time

Check for leaks and get twice the result with half the effort
For a long time, leakage and perforation have often occurred in single-well pipelines for polymer injection. Some leakage points are located 30 to 100cm below the cement floor inside and outside the injection station building. In order to repair the puncture leak, you first need to find the puncture leak.

Inspired by the temperature-sensitive characteristics of infrared thermometers, technicians at Gudong Sancai Center skillfully used the thermometer to quickly and accurately find the leakage points of pipelines under the cement floor inside and outside the station, achieving twice the result with half the effort.

Under normal circumstances, what is transported to the wellhead in the polymer injection well pipeline is a mixture of polymer mother liquor and sewage, with a temperature of about 40°C. Due to the different compaction degrees, densities, and pore sizes of underground cement and underground soil layers, the mixed liquid from the leakage point migrates along the point of maximum porosity, turns and extends, and can move up to more than 10 meters, and finally from The weakest point overflows, that is, the overflow point. The temperature gradually decreases during the transfer process of the mixed liquid, that is, the temperature at the overflow point is the lowest, while the temperature at the leakage point is the highest.

Therefore, when actually finding a leak, you only need to move the hand-held thermometer along the path of increasing temperature starting from the overflow point. As it approaches the leak point, the thermometer will show a gradual increase in temperature until the maximum temperature is reached. The leakage point is found at the highest temperature point. Multiple leak-finding tests have proven that using a thermometer to find leak points saves time and effort, with an accuracy of 100%. This method can greatly reduce the scope of pounding the cement floor, reduce labor intensity and injection well shutdown time, and improve work efficiency.

Since 2009, the above recommendations have been used to find leaks in 15 wells, with a success rate of 100%. The pipeline processing time has been shortened by an average of 6 hours per well, the polymer solution injection volume has been increased by 680 cubic meters, and the well shutdown time has been reduced.

Eliminate hidden dangers "heatstroke prevention and cooling"
At around 9 a.m. a few days ago, the temperature in the injection pump room was as high as 30°C. After taking up his post, Wang Laiqing, the station manager and worker technician at No. 8 Polymer Injection Station, held an infrared thermometer and began to inspect the polymer injection equipment one by one. Suddenly, he found that the temperature of the crankcase of a polymer injection pump had risen by 2°C compared with the previous day. If this hidden danger is not eliminated in time, it will directly endanger the normal operation of the polymer injection pump. So, he immediately started looking for the cause. Analyzing that the operating frequency of the equipment had not changed, he checked that the motor current had not changed from the past, which ruled out possible temperature increases caused by the increase in equipment load. So he searched for lubricating oil addition records and inquired about the situation of lubricating oil being added at that time. It turned out that the lubricant added was of the wrong grade. With the replacement of lubricating oil, the potential accident hazard was eliminated in time.

Nowadays, due to the reduction in the amount of mother liquor in the polymer injection well, the operating frequency of the polymer injection pump is low, and some pumps operate at around 18 Hz, causing the motor to heat up and the crankcase lubricating oil temperature to be high. The temperature of some motor shells is close to 60°C, and the temperature of crankcase lubricating oil is also above 50°C, which brings great hidden dangers to the long-term operation of the equipment. Therefore, employees use thermometers to check the temperature of various parts of the motor casing, bearings and polymer injection pump crankcase every day, keep records, and promptly carry out the following "heatstroke prevention and cooling" work for the equipment.
