What are the applications of VOC gas detectors?
In the ordinary sense, VOC refers to volatile organic compounds, but in the environmental sense, it is defined as a type of volatile organic compound that is reactive and harmful. So when it comes to detecting harmful VOCs, we need VOC measuring instruments to protect our safety. Its VOC gas detector is used to continuously measure toxic and harmful organic gases in hazardous or industrial environments, and is also particularly suitable for personal safety protection and on-site VOC detection. Do you know what types of VOC gas detectors there are?
1. Laboratory instruments
Laboratory analysis of VOCs usually involves using Suma jars, sampling bags, absorbent solutions, or adsorbents to collect VOCs back to the laboratory, followed by pre-treatment processes such as thermal analysis, and then analyzing them using GC or MS. The difficulty of laboratory VOC testing lies in how to prevent the loss of VOCs during transportation and how to choose appropriate pre-treatment processes to ensure that all volatile organic compounds enter the analytical instrument. The main advantage of laboratory instruments is accurate results, but the main disadvantage is poor timeliness, which can easily lead to sample loss during sampling and transportation, affecting the accuracy and reliability of measurements.
2. Portable VOC gas detector
At present, portable TVOC gas detectors are very common in air quality management. VOC gas detectors use imported VOC sensors to detect the total amount of VOCs. The detector is small in size and does not require auxiliary gas. It can be used for on-site, indoor air monitoring, emergency monitoring, hazardous/leaked gas warning, etc.
3. Online VOC gas detector
Online instruments have the characteristics of continuity, connectivity, and uniformity, which can solve the shortcomings of other detection instruments in terms of timeliness, temporality, and regionalism. Compared with laboratory instruments, online instruments obtain continuous monitoring results through continuous sampling and analysis. Compared with offline monitoring, which has the characteristics of long analysis time and lagging analysis data results, online monitoring has the advantages of high efficiency, short preprocessing time, and continuous data, which can effectively reduce the errors caused by human operations on data; But the main disadvantage is that there is cross contamination in the samples, and the applicability and stability urgently need to be addressed.
