What are the requirements for choosing a suitable moisture analyzer

1. Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzer

1. The principle of detection is:

(1) Side reactions cannot generate water.

(2) The sample must also not consume iodine or release iodine.

2. Capacity analysis and determination. The specific application scope is mainly organic and inorganic compounds.

(1) Inorganic compounds
Inorganic compounds such as organic acids, inorganic acids, acid oxides, inorganic acids and anhydrides.

(2) Organic compounds
Acids, alcohols, esters, stable hydroxyl compounds, acetals, ethers, hydrocarbon anhydrides, acid halides, halides, peroxy compounds, nitrogen-containing compounds, sulfur-containing compounds and other organic compounds.

3. Specific application scope of coulometric instruments
Hydrocarbons, oils, alcohols, halogenated hydrocarbons, phenols, lipids, ethers, etc.

2. Infrared/Halogen Moisture Analyzer

1. Detection principle:

(1) The sample does not contain volatile substances other than water

(2) There are samples that are insoluble or hardly soluble in organic solvents

2. The main detection of the physical method moisture analyzer:

Powdery, granular, viscous, fluid substances, such as: seeds, rapeseed, flour, paper, powdered medicine, soil, waste water, pigments, dehydrated vegetables, etc.

3. The difference between infrared moisture analyzer and halogen moisture analyzer:

Infrared: Uniform heating, traditional heating method, more suitable for testing temperature-sensitive samples, such as samples with high sugar content

Halogen: fast heating, uniform heating, high efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection

In summary:
The advantage of using the heating method moisture analyzer is that it does not need to use other auxiliary reagents except electricity, and the installation and operation are relatively simple, but the accuracy and detection efficiency of the test results are not as good as the Karl Fischer method moisture analyzer.

The Karl Fischer moisture analyzer has faster and more accurate detection characteristics than the heating method moisture analyzer, and the detection range that can be used is also very wide, and the Karl Fischer moisture analyzer that should be used should be selected according to the moisture content of the sample and the characteristics of the sample. Moisture analyzer type, when the moisture content in the sample is less than 0.5%, and does not contain the above-mentioned restricted substances, or when detecting the moisture value of gas, the coulometric moisture analyzer should be preferred

3. According to the sample properties described above, select the appropriate Karl Fischer moisture analyzer, physical method moisture analyzer, etc.

4. Accuracy value:
Select the appropriate precision value according to the testing standard required by the industry or the moisture value of the sample required by production.

Moisture accuracy value: 0.1%, 0.05%, 0.01%, 0.001%, 0.003%

5. Temperature (Physical Method): Different samples require different temperature values, 160-270 is optional.

6. Select products according to the unit budget and bidding budget. Some products have the same precision value, but have slight differences in specific operational practicability, resulting in different prices.
