What are the types of AC regulated power supplies

The models and types of regulated power supplies can generally be divided into four categories. DC, AC, inverter, and switch regulated power supply. For these four different types of regulated power supplies. Although there are some similarities in their working methods and principles, there are also many differences. The following three sections will provide a detailed introduction to these four different models and types of regulated power supplies.

The first category is AC regulated power supply, which can be divided into single-phase and three-phase regulated power supply, as well as contactless and contactless regulated power supply. In practical applications, it can be summarized as the following common classifications of AC regulated power sources:

① Ferromagnetic resonant AC voltage regulator. Composed of a saturated choke and corresponding capacitors, it has constant voltage volt ampere characteristics.

② Magnetic amplifier type AC voltage stabilizer. The magnetic amplifier and Autotransformer are connected in series, and the electronic circuit is used to change the impedance of the magnetic amplifier to stabilize the output voltage.

③ Sliding AC voltage regulator. Stabilize the output voltage by changing the sliding contact position of the transformer.

④ Inductive AC voltage regulator. By changing the phase difference between the secondary and primary voltage of the transformer, the output AC voltage is stabilized.

⑤ Thyristor AC voltage regulator. Use thyristors as power adjustment components. High stability, fast response, and no noise. But it causes interference to communication and electronic equipment. After the 1980s, three new types of AC voltage stabilizers emerged: compensated AC voltage stabilizers. CNC and stepper AC voltage regulators. Purified AC voltage regulator. It has good isolation effect and can eliminate peak interference from the power grid.

The second major category is DC regulated power supply:

Also known as a DC voltage regulator. Its power supply voltage is mostly AC voltage, and when the voltage of AC power supply or the output load resistance changes, the direct output voltage of the regulator can remain stable. The parameters of the voltage regulator include voltage stability, ripple coefficient, and response speed.

The third major category is inverter stabilized voltage power supply

The so-called inverter regulated power supply is also called variable frequency power supply. This variable frequency power supply is controlled by a 16 bit Motorola processor, designed with high-frequency PWM, and driven by imported Mitsubishi 1GBT, with an efficiency of more than 85%. Fast response, with a stable reaction time of less than 2ms for 100% unloading/loading. This variable frequency power supply has strong overload capacity and can withstand 300% of the rated current in an instant. The waveform is pure, the frequency is high and stable, and no interference magnetic waves (EMI, EMC) are generated. Variable frequency power supply is not only the best power supply for research and development, laboratories, and measurement rooms, but also the standard power supply for EM/EMC/safety testing.

The fourth major category is switch regulated power supply

The schematic diagram and Equivalence principle block diagram of switching regulated power supply are composed of full wave rectifier, switch tube V, excitation signal, Flyback diode Vp, energy storage inductance and filter capacitor C. In fact, the core part of the switch regulated power supply is a DC transformer.
