What does the infrared thermometer display LO mean?

The infrared thermometer has a temperature range of -50°C to 550°C, and the appearance of LO means that the detection temperature is lower than the lower limit, that is to say, the low temperature of the object you are measuring is lower than -50°C! It could also be due to low battery.

Error Analysis of Infrared Thermometer

Since the infrared thermometer is non-contact, its measurement results are affected by many factors. From the perspective of the instrument itself, there are the following aspects: using a non-isothermal black body as a calibration source, the difference in emissivity of the instrument, the air medium and the lens structure of the instrument In terms of external factors, the measurement results are affected by the emissivity of the measured object, the measurement distance coefficient, and the external environment temperature.

The solution to the error of infrared thermometer

In the application, the method of on-site comparison and calibration is generally used to eliminate these effects as much as possible. According to the actual calibration needs, several calibration temperatures are selected accordingly, and the calibration sequence is carried out from low temperature to high temperature. First set the emissivity ε=1 of the object for calibration, then adjust the value of ε to make the displayed temperature consistent with the calibration temperature, read the indication value of ε=1 and the indication value of ε<<1 after adjustment. Each calibration point is read repeatedly several times before data processing. For the thermometers whose indication error and repeatability meet the requirements, it is enough to mark their s value.
