What is the difference between a gas detector and a gas analyser?

In daily life, we often integrate gas detectors and gas analyzers together. We believe that it is the same instrument and function, but in fact, our understanding is incorrect. The detection purpose of gas detectors is mainly for safety protection, while the detection purpose of gas analyzers is mainly to analyze the gas composition and content in the tested environment. So, besides these fundamental misunderstandings, what are the differences between gas detectors and gas analyzers?

1, Different constructions:
Gas detectors generally consist of gas detectors and signal conversion circuits, while analyzers not only have gas detectors and signal conversion circuits, but also a complete gas path analysis system.

2, Different detection methods:
The detection method of gas detectors is often diffusion type, which can only be detected in air. A gas analyzer, on the other hand, takes the collected gas and sucks it into the interior for analysis by lifting it out of the sampling tube.

3, The accuracy of data varies:
Gas detectors can only provide qualitative analysis results for specified gases. A gas analyzer, on the other hand, is an unknown gas concentration and provides information on the type and concentration of gas contained in the unknown gas through an analytical instrument.

4, The purpose of measurement varies
The detection purpose of gas detectors is mainly for safety protection, and different gas detectors are set up to prevent detection based on the known gas composition in the detection environment. The detection purpose of gas analyzers is mainly to determine the gas composition and content in the tested environment, and the detection accuracy of gas analyzers is higher than that of gas detectors.

5, The operation methods for completing the entire measurement process are different
When using a gas detector, simply place it in the tested environment to display the values and complete the detection.

Gas analyzers must introduce gas into the instrument for strict adjustment of process and technical conditions, such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc. Only when the operator adjusts the instrument until a stable chemical process is achieved can accurate measurement data be obtained.

Based on the above summary, there are five differences between gas detectors and gas analyzers. Nanjing Saifumei Technology Co., Ltd. is a domestic and foreign gas detection and analyzer expert.
