Which digital or analog multimeter is better for electricians?

A multimeter is one of the commonly used electrical tools. Currently, there are two common types of multimeters on the market: pointer multimeters and digital multimeters. Which of these two is more suitable for us electricians to use? Some people say they need numbers, while others say they need pointers. Let's talk about this issue: 1. Each display method has its own strengths: What is the first reaction of many people when they see a digital multimeter? You will definitely think, wow, how great this multimeter is! It can display the measurement directly with numbers without me having to read it. It's so convenient! Well, this sentence was heard by the electrician who likes to use a pointer multimeter, and he retorted. The biggest advantage of a pointer meter is its pointer swing, which can intuitively reflect changes in the properties of the measured object, making it more convenient than a digital meter. From the above point of view, it can be said that it is difficult to distinguish between the two. However, digital watches also have a more prominent feature, which is that they can generally be made very compact and portable, which is slightly better than pointer watches. As for the issue of backlight, I think there are also some better dial gauges available, so I won't forget about it.

2. There are differences in design purposes: Generally speaking, people subconsciously think that digital multimeters are tools suitable for measuring precision instrument components. For applications such as small overloads, their accuracy is relatively intuitive and more accurate compared to pointer multimeters. And pointer multimeters are considered suitable for measuring large overloads (which is also related to the working principle of pointers). So it also depends on the nature of the electrician's job and the commonly used measuring objects of the multimeter. As for the issue of whether it is durable or not, I personally think that digital watches have a slight advantage, after all, the swinging pointer is a precise and flexible physical device. In the end, everyone has their own preferences, but what about a junior electrician? Based on the characteristics of a pointer multimeter, I still think this one is more suitable, although it is relatively cumbersome and not intuitive enough. But our goal is to learn and easily understand the numerical changes of the measured object, so we still recommend beginners to use it.
