How to use the clamp meter
Clamp Meter
Recommendation: How to use a clamp-on ammeter
1. According to the type of the current to be measured and the voltage of the line, select the appropriate type of clamp meter. Before measuring, it must be adjusted to zero (mechanical zero adjustment).
2. Check the surface of the jaw, it should be clean and free of dirt and rust. When the jaws are closed, there should be no gaps.
3. If the rough value of the measured current is known, select the appropriate range according to this value. If the measured current value cannot be estimated, it should be placed in the maximum range first, and then gradually reduce the range until the pointer deflection is not less than 1/4 of the full deflection, preferably the pointer deflection is between 1/2 and 2/3. .
4. When the measured current is small, the measured current-carrying wire can be wound around the iron core for a few turns before measuring. The actual current value should be the reading of the clamp meter divided by the number of wires put into the jaw.
5. When measuring, the conductor under test should be placed in a vertical position in the center of the jaw as much as possible, and the jaw should be tightly closed to reduce the measurement error.
6. After the measurement is completed, the range switch should be placed at the maximum position of the AC voltage to avoid false measurement of large current in the next use.
