Why use klcl for ph meter electrode protection solution?
In order to maintain the pH of the membrane as a constant.
The membrane of the pH electrode is made of potassium-containing glass, with KCl saturated solution inside as the internal reference solution, and after use, in order to make the ion exchange on the glass membrane reach the standard state, it is necessary to soak it in KCl, which will play a protective role for the electrode, and can effectively prevent the loss of the reference solution, prolong the use of the electrode, and keep the balance of its original PH potential unchanged, in order to be more accurate in the measurement. h Electrode protection solution, that is, 3mol / L KCl solution (KCL is a neutral solution).
PH meter electrode protection liquid is a liquid to protect the PH meter electrode, mainly composed of preservatives and so on. The electrodes used in the laboratory are composite electrodes, which have the advantage of being easy to use, unaffected by oxidising or reducing substances and faster equilibration.
PH meter calibration steps
1. Remove the sensor from the site and clean the glass electrode of the probe with water.
2. Pour the two standard solutions into two prepared beakers.
3. Dip the electrode into the first standard liquid, open the meter menu and calibrate the first point. Different brands of instruments, the operation of the calibration menu is different, according to the random instruction manual for operation.
4. After the first point of calibration, rinse the electrode with water, and then put the electrode into the second standard liquid, flip the meter menu, calibrate the second point.
5. After the two-point calibration is completed, different brands of meters will show in different ways whether the meter passes the calibration or passes.
6. If it passes, put the electrode back into the measured liquid and put the meter into operation.
7. If the meter fails to calibrate, repeat the above process to calibrate again, and if it still fails, replace the electrode.
