5 Key Notes for Using Coating Thickness Gauges

1. Do not use inferior batteries to avoid leakage and corrosion of the motherboard. Once a leak is found, please send it for repair immediately. If it is too late, the host will be scrapped directly. If not used for a long time, please remove the battery.

2. When plugging or unplugging the probe, the host power must be turned off before plugging or unplugging. Otherwise, it is easy to cause the integrated block inside the probe to burn out.

3. When measuring, the probe should be placed steadily, and the force should not be too strong. Point measurements should not be taken at very fast speeds; When testing, do not scratch the probe on the surface being tested, as this can easily cause damage to the probe.

4. It is very important not to measure before the coating is dry. Many customers often measure before the coating is dry. After sticking the probe to the paint, it should be cleaned with banana oil or xylene before use. If operated in this way, the most serious probe will be directly scrapped. Even if it is not scrapped, the sensitivity of the probe will be reduced, and the service life of the probe will also be reduced.

When choosing a coating thickness gauge, try to choose a split type instrument. Due to the fact that the probe is a vulnerable component with a certain lifespan, it is also a consumable. The probe of the all-in-one machine cannot be repaired, and the price of replacing the probe is very high, close to the price of a new machine. And the split machine only needs to replace the probe.

Solution to reduce sensitivity of coating thickness gauge probe
In general, the host of the coating thickness gauge is not easily damaged and can be used for a long time under normal conditions. However, the sensitivity of the probe may decrease after reaching a certain service life. Especially when operating improperly during use, it is easy to cause a decrease in probe sensitivity. After the sensitivity of the probe decreases, it may not be able to calibrate zero, and there will be no display on the measurement host on the zero board. Another phenomenon is that it can be displayed on zero plates with poor surface roughness, but cannot be measured on zero plates with good roughness. After this situation occurs, it indicates that the probe has been damaged, but it can still be used. There are two methods to solve the problem of reduced sensitivity of the probe: 1. Place the probe at the edge of the zero plate for zero calibration. It is impossible to measure in the middle of the zero plate, but in general, the edge of the zero plate can still measure and display readings.

Choose a very thin film to measure and see how much error there is in the reading (take the average), then remember this error and subtract it from each measurement in the future to obtain an accurate reading.
