Application of Laser Rangefinders in the Construction Industry

Construction surveying is the first and most essential procedure in building construction. With social development, high‑rise buildings continue to increase across China. During construction and subsequent interior decoration, the measurement of floor height, point‑to‑point distance, area, material consumption, structural deviation and other key parameters directly affect the overall construction quality of buildings. Commonly used measuring tools today include general rangefinders, laser rangefinders, telescopic rangefinders and more. These instruments shorten working hours and greatly improve measuring accuracy. The LDM‑100 laser rangefinder launched by Shanghai Maijurui Electronics has been widely applied throughout the construction industry thanks to its excellent performance.

The LDM‑100 adopts a pocket‑sized ergonomic design, featuring compact dimensions, light weight and high portability. It offers a measuring range of 0.05 to 50 meters with an error of only ±1.5 mm, and supports quick calculation of area and volume. As a precision measuring device, it determines target distances by laser detection. During operation, the instrument emits a fine laser beam toward the target. A photoelectric component receives the reflected laser, and an internal timer records the round‑trip travel time to calculate the exact distance from the operator to the target.

Built with dual‑layer injection‑molded non‑slip soft rubber, the LDM‑100 provides a comfortable and stable grip. Its lightweight, streamlined body and integrated measuring‑and‑aiming design align the laser output with the line of sight. This effectively reduces parallax deviation between the laser origin and visual observation, delivering more precise and reliable measurement results.

Equipped with a large backlit LCD screen, the device allows users to clearly read measured data while aiming at the target. Featuring simple and intuitive operation, it supports single‑person use without auxiliary equipment such as ladders. Hard‑to‑reach locations can be measured effortlessly, greatly lowering the risk of on‑site accidents.

The LDM‑100 is suitable for a wide range of construction projects, including distance, area and volume measurement, formwork positioning, and concrete pouring volume calculation. Decoration teams rely on it for fast, accurate positioning and installation of light steel keels. In the telecommunications sector, it fulfills various measurement requirements for cable and wiring installation. For electromechanical engineering, it ensures consistent pipeline dimensions to avoid material waste and optimize construction costs.

Beyond the construction field, this laser rangefinder is also widely used in golf course maintenance, fire protection systems, construction survey and design, network planning, power sector measurement, mapping, wildlife surveys and many other scenarios.
