Application of New Digital Multimeters in Industries

As one of the indispensable instruments in the electronic‑testing field, digital multimeters enjoy an extremely wide range of applications. A digital multimeter is a measuring instrument that applies the analog‑to‑digital conversion principle to convert measured quantities into digital values and displays measurement results in digital form. Compared with analog multimeters, new‑generation digital multimeters feature high accuracy, fast response, high input impedance, digital readout, precise readings, strong anti‑interference capability and a high degree of measurement automation. For these merits, they have gained extensive applications and are well‑received by engineers.

The newly‑launched DM3000‑series digital multimeters adopt dual‑mode display with a maximum resolution of 6½ digits and waveform‑capture capability. Equipped with multiple standard interfaces plus an Ethernet port, they further broaden the application scope and fields of digital multimeters.

Fault Diagnosis Assists Engineers in Troubleshooting

Boasting a data‑sampling rate up to 50 k/s, the DM3000 achieves one of the highest performance benchmarks in the industry. With this capability, it can fully acquire continuous processes that were hard to capture by digital multimeters with slower read‑out speeds.

Sudden failures frequently occur on product production lines within the electronics‑manufacturing sector. It is critical for engineers to identify root causes and resolve faults in a timely manner. For instance, DVD designers often encounter power‑supply burnout during product commissioning, which creates considerable disruptions to production. Leveraging advanced A/D conversion technology, the DM3000 delivers a read‑out rate of 50 000 readings per second and can continuously transmit readings directly to a PC at the same speed. Its non‑volatile memory provides a storage depth of 1 MByte. Multiple configurable start‑trigger conditions for Data‑Logging offer great flexibility. True‑RMS conversion technology substantially improves AC‑voltage‑measurement accuracy, with an AC bandwidth ranging from 3 Hz to 300 kHz.

With the Data‑Logging function, the DM3000 can capture over‑voltage surges during power‑on sequences. Data can then be downloaded to a PC via USB, and sampled points are visualized and analyzed using supporting analysis software to finally locate fault causes and help engineers tackle practical production‑site problems. The DM3000 also delivers high‑performance measurement and analysis for rapidly‑changing audio waveform data, seismic‑wave data and other similar signals.
