Do I have to set it to zero every time I turn on the gas detector?
Whether the portable gas detector should be "zeroed" every time it is turned on. This is actually a very good question, so what is the zero-setting step?
As a standard process, we train instrument users to perform four basic steps in clean air every time they turn on the instrument:
1. Confirm the battery charge.
2. Zero adjustment
3. Ventilation test
4. Clear the peak value
There are several points to pay attention to whether zero adjustment is needed:
1) The key to air zeroing is to know that you are in clean air. You should not zero the instrument unless you know that you are in a clean air environment. Zeroing instruments in a polluted atmosphere may lead to confusion in reading, and may even cover up the reading of potentially dangerous gas concentration.
2) If zero is set, but the surrounding environment is near a fire or a smoky place, and there is no clean air, you should use zero air (compressed air with impurities removed) to establish a standard for your detector. Zero air will not damage the function of your detector or interference sensor.
In an unclean air environment, if the instrument is turned on, the reading of combustible gas and other gas sensors is 000 and the reading of oxygen sensor is 20.9, then what is the purpose of zeroing the gas detector? Assuming that your gas detector doesn't deliberately cover up the negative reading (the instrument of INSCO won't do that), it is not good to adjust zero at this point. So, if you turn on your instrument and the reading is normal or within your acceptable range, don't waste time to complete the zero adjustment process.
