Maintenance and Cleaning of Infrared Thermometers

 

As we all know: some pollution on the lens of the infrared thermometer will not affect the accuracy of the two-color infrared thermometer, but it will have a great impact on the single-color infrared thermometer. Of course, if the lens is too dirty so that the sensor head cannot get enough infrared energy, even if it is a two-color infrared thermometer, the measured temperature value will have a large deviation, so in daily maintenance and use, care should be taken to maintain Clean the lens to ensure the normal operation of the thermometer and meet the measurement needs.


1. Infrared thermometers should use twisted copper wires (cross-sectional area of about 50mm2) to form an electrical bypass to protect them from the hazards caused by electric welding current or lightning strikes. In the use of the thermometer, strong heat radiation must be avoided, especially strong heat radiation on one side.


2. All wires leading to or from the display circuit should use shielded cables.
The connection and grounding point of the shielded wire should be reasonable. If it is not grounded through the mechanical frame, it is grounded externally, but the shielded wires are not grounded after being connected to each other, and are floating.


Note: There are 3 thermometers that are fully parallel connected. The thermometer itself is 4-wire system, but it is replaced with 6-wire connection in the junction box. The readout circuit of the output signal of the thermometer should not be placed in the same box with devices that can generate strong interference (such as silicon controlled devices, contactors, etc.) and devices that generate considerable heat. If this cannot be guaranteed, it should be considered A baffle is set between them to isolate them, and a fan is installed in the box. The electronic circuit used to measure the output signal of the fiber optic thermometer should be equipped with an independent power supply transformer as much as possible, instead of sharing the same main power supply with contactors and other equipment.


3. Try to set up some "baffles" around the infrared thermometer, or even cover the thermometer with a thin metal plate.
This can prevent sundries from contaminating the thermometer and some movable parts, and this kind of "contamination" will often make the movable parts uncomfortable and affect the weighing accuracy. The following methods can be used to judge whether the system has movement discomfort. That is, add or subtract about one-thousandth of the rated load on the weighing platform to see if the electronic platform weighing display responds, and if there is a reflection, it means that the movable part is not "contaminated".


4. Prepare for electrical connection (such as the signal cable of the thermometer, do not arrange it in parallel with the strong current power line or the control line of the infrared double-color thermometer (for example, do not place the signal line of the thermometer, the strong power line and the control line in the same place) In the same pipe). If they must be placed in parallel, the distance between them should be kept at least 50CM, and the signal line should be covered with a metal tube.


The following steps should be followed carefully when cleaning the infrared thermometer lens:
1. Gently blow away the floating dust. If there is a lot of dust, use compressed air to blow it off slowly.


2. Gently wipe off the remaining particles with a soft brush or special lens paper.


3. Dip a cotton swab or lens paper in distilled water, wipe the surface of the lens, and be careful not to leave scratches. For fingerprints or other oils, the following cleaning methods can be used:

② Ethanol


③Industrial alcohol


Wipe the edge of the infrared thermometer lens with an alcohol swab
Wipe the objective lens of infrared thermometer with lens paper
When cleaning the lens, you should choose the appropriate method according to the needs and the actual situation, pay attention to the action should be light, use a soft, clean cloth until the color of the lens surface is visible, and then dry it in the air. Be careful not to dry the surface of the lens, so as not to leave scratches. If there is a coating on the lens, it can be wiped with ethane and then air-dried.
