Since the clamp Ammeter can measure the current in the circuit without cutting off the circuit, it is widely used. The correct use of clamp Ammeter should usually pay attention to the following aspects:


(1) Choose the correct gear.

Before measuring the current, it is necessary to roughly estimate the magnitude of the measured current based on the size of the load and select the appropriate range. When it is impossible to estimate, a larger range can be used first, and then a suitable range can be changed based on the magnitude of the measured current. However, the measured wire shall be placed outside the bayonet of the clamp Ammeter when shifting.


(2) The placement position of the measuring wire should be correct.

When measuring the current of the wire, the measured current carrying wire should be placed in the center position inside the clamp; When measuring the current, remove the movable magnet from the jaws and place one wire of the motor in the center of the jaws.


(3) Usage environment.

Keep away from strong magnetic field (such as electrified auto Pressure regulator, magnet, etc.) as far as possible, and use clamp Ammeter to reduce the influence of magnetic field on clamp Ammeter.


Its working principle is as follows: clamp Ammeter consists of current transformer and Ammeter. The iron core of the transformer has a movable part and is connected to the handle. When in use, press the handle to open the movable iron core. Place the wire of the measured current into the clamp, release the handle, and close the iron core. At this point, the wire passing through the current is equivalent to the primary winding of the transformer, and the current meter is connected to both ends of the secondary winding. Therefore, the current indicated by it is the current in the secondary winding, which is proportional to the current in operation. Therefore, the reduced scale is taken as the current quantity reflecting the primary side. When there is current in the conductor, the pointer of the Ammeter connected to the secondary winding will deflect proportionally to indicate the value of the measured current.


The clamp meter is similar to the clamp in appearance. When using, the conductor passes through the clamp iron core, so it is called clamp meter or clamp Ammeter, which is a kind of Ammeter commonly used by electrical workers. When measuring the current of the circuit with an ordinary Ammeter, the circuit needs to be cut off and connected to the Ammeter. The clamp meter can measure the current without cutting off the circuit, which is the biggest feature of clamp Ammeter. Due to the convenience of measuring current, it is widely used.


Clamp Ammeter can be generally divided into magnetoelectric type and electromagnetic type. The magnetic type is used to measure power frequency AC power, while the electromagnetic type is a dual purpose AC and DC. In addition, there is a digital clamp Ammeter, which has the advantages of intuitive reading, high accuracy, easy use, etc., and it also has the measurement function of AC and DC voltage, resistance, diode of general digital multimeter.
