Principles and Applications of Ultrasonic Anemometry

The working principle of ultrasonic anemometer is to use ultrasonic time difference method to achieve the measurement of wind speed.

Because it overcomes the inherent defects of mechanical anemometers, it can work all-weather and for a long time, and is more and more widely used. It will be a strong alternative to mechanical anemometers.

The working principle of ultrasonic anemometer
The working principle of ultrasonic anemometer is to use ultrasonic time difference method to achieve the measurement of wind speed.

The propagation speed of sound in the air will be superimposed with the speed of airflow in the wind direction. If the propagation direction of the ultrasonic wave is the same as the wind direction, it will speed up;

Conversely, if the propagation direction of the ultrasonic wave is opposite to the wind direction, it will slow down. Therefore, under fixed detection conditions, the speed of ultrasound propagation in the air can correspond to the wind speed function.

The wind speed and direction can be obtained by calculation.
As sound wave propagates in the air, its speed is greatly affected by temperature; the anemometer detects two opposite directions on two channels, so the effect of temperature on the speed of sound wave is negligible.

Users can select the unit of wind speed, output frequency and output format as required. Heating (recommended in freezing environments) or analogue output can also be selected as required.

It can be connected to a computer, data collector or other collection device with RS485 or analogue output compatible. Multiple units can also be used in a network if required.

Let's take a look at the following areas of application of the ultrasonic anemometer what are they
Ultrasonic anemometer application is convenient, in many areas can be used flexibly, widely used in urban environmental monitoring, wind power generation, meteorological monitoring, bridges and tunnels, marine vessels, aviation airports, various types of fan manufacturing industry, the need for ventilation exhaust system industries.
