Things to note when using a metallographic microscope

1. When holding a metallographic microscope, hold the mirror arm firmly with one hand and support the mirror base with the other hand. Do not carry it with one hand to prevent the eyepiece or other parts from slipping.

2. The metallographic microscope cannot be placed on the edge of the experimental bench to avoid knocking it over and falling to the ground.

3. Do not remove the eyepieces or disassemble various parts of the microscope at will to prevent dust from falling inside or accidents such as loss or damage.

4. When using a metallographic microscope, the operation must be formal, and you must develop the habit of opening both eyes at the same time and using both hands at the same time. Count and draw while observing.

5. Keep the microscope clean. If there is dust or the lens and stage are accidentally stained with dye, water droplets, etc. during operation, wipe them off immediately. The mirror surface of the optical and lighting parts can only be wiped gently with lens cleaning paper. Do not rub it with fingers, handkerchiefs, silk cloth, etc. to avoid damaging the mirror surface. The mechanical part can be wiped with a cloth.

6. After using the microscope, turn the coarse adjustment spiral to raise the lens barrel or lower the stage, remove the specimen piece, turn the converter to move the objective lens away from the light aperture, and then lower the lens barrel or raise the stage to approach the objective lens and vertical reflector. Lower light collector. Close the iris diaphragm, restore the tilt joint and report unit, fill in the usage registration, and put the microscope back into the mirror box.

Metallurgical microscope light
Use your left hand to turn the coarse adjustment screw to raise the lens barrel or lower the stage, and then turn the nosepiece to align the low-magnification lens with the light aperture of the stage (when turning, pay attention to making sure that the notch above the objective lens is in contact with the fixing buckle of the base) snap together), open the aperture, rotate the collector mirror lifting screw, so that the lens plane at the upper end of the collector mirror is slightly lower than the height of the stage plane, open both eyes at the same time, and adjust the direction of the reflector at the same time until the light in the field of view is uniform. , until the brightness is moderate.

Metallurgical microscope placing slide specimens
Take a slide specimen and place it on the stage with the cover glass side facing up. Fix it on the propeller, then turn the propeller screw by hand to align the part of the specimen to be observed with the center of the light hole. .
