Troubleshooting Methods for Combustible‑Gas Detectors
Combustible‑gas detectors respond to the concentration of single or multiple combustible gases. Two main types are available: catalytic‑combustion type and infrared‑optical type. Malfunctions may occur during operation, so users need to master corresponding troubleshooting measures. The detailed solutions are as follows.
① Do not install air conditioners or heating devices close to the combustible‑gas detector. If cold or hot airflow blows directly onto the detector, the resistivity of its platinum wire may change and result in measurement errors. Therefore, keep the detector away from air‑conditioning and heating equipment to prevent faults caused by improper installation positions.
② Prevent electromagnetic interference during operation. Take anti‑interference measures for installation position, mounting angle, protection measures and system wiring. Electromagnetic interference affects the detector mainly in three ways: airborne electromagnetic waves, narrow pulse groups on power supply and I/O cables, and human‑body static electricity.
③ Pay attention to fault‑inducing factors such as dust, high temperature, humidity and rain exposure. If an exhaust fan is installed on‑site, avoid placing it adjacent to the detector. Otherwise, leaked combustible gas cannot diffuse sufficiently to the detector, leading to delayed detection.
④ For explosion‑hazardous locations, select explosion‑proof combustible‑gas detectors. For Class‑A workshops where combustible gases are released, the explosion‑proof rating of the detector shall meet or exceed the requirements of current applicable specifications.
⑤ Avoid locations subject to high temperature, high humidity, steam and oil fume. Do not place or hang articles on the detector. Do not arbitrarily relocate the installed combustible‑gas detector.
⑥ Prioritize products with replaceable sensor probes for convenient maintenance.
