What to do if the coating thickness gauge has a large error value

Because there are many reasons for instrument inaccuracy. For coating thickness gauges alone, there are mainly the following reasons that cause inaccurate measurements.

(1) Interference from strong magnetic fields. We once conducted a simple experiment. When the instrument works near an electromagnetic field of about 10,000 V, the measurement will be severely interfered. If you are very close to the electromagnetic field, a crash may occur.

(2) Human factors. This situation often happens to new users. The reason why the coating thickness gauge can measure to the micron level is that it can take small changes in magnetic flux and convert it into a digital signal. During the measurement process, if the user is not familiar with the instrument, the probe may deviate from the body being measured, causing changes in the magnetic flux and causing erroneous measurements. Therefore, it is recommended that users first master the measurement method when using this instrument for the first time. The placement of the probe has a great influence on the measurement. The probe should be kept perpendicular to the surface of the sample during measurement. And the probe should not be placed for too long to avoid interference from the magnetic field of the matrix itself.

(3) No appropriate matrix was selected during system calibration. The minimum flat surface of the substrate is 7mm and the minimum thickness is 0.2mm. Measurements below these critical conditions are unreliable.

(4) The influence of attached substances. This instrument is sensitive to attached substances that prevent the probe from making close contact with the covering surface. Therefore, attached materials must be removed to ensure direct contact between the probe and the covering surface. When performing system calibration, the surface of the selected substrate must also be bare and smooth.

During the measurement process, why do there sometimes appear significant deviations in the measurement data?
During the measurement process, due to incorrect placement of the probe or the influence of external interference factors, the measurement data may be significantly larger. At this time, you can hold down the CAL key to activate the data to avoid entering the data statistics.

How to calibrate the system?
Calibration methods and types are questions that new users often encounter. System calibration, zero-point calibration and two-point calibration have actually been written in the instruction manual. Users only need to read it carefully. It should be noted that when calibrating the iron base, it is best to measure several times to prevent incorrect operations; the samples for system calibration should be carried out in order from small to large. If individual standard pieces are lost, you can find sample pieces with similar values to replace them.
