Increased CO2 concentration has obvious inhibitory effect on respiration. This can be explained from the perspective of chemical equilibrium. According to this principle, when storing seeds, the concentration of CO2 can be increased, the respiration of seeds can be reduced, and the storage time can be prolonged. The nutrients in the seeds must be dissolved in water before they can be absorbed and utilized by the seeds. Therefore, water affects the respiration of seeds, less dryness, weaker respiration of seeds, less consumption of organic matter, and can prolong the storage time of seeds. Therefore, the warehouse for storing seeds should have conditions of low temperature, dryness, and increased carbon dioxide concentration. Therefore, carbon dioxide detectors are also widely used in seed storage.
