Three tips for using the multimeter

 

1. Use a multimeter to test whether the wires are connected or not
First confirm that there is no voltage at both ends of the wire. DC voltage or AC voltage may damage the multimeter, and then use the multimeter to measure the resistance of the wire. Some multimeters have on-off measurement gears, which can directly measure whether the wire is connected or not.


Use the on-off gear of the multimeter or the minimum ohm gear, and when the two ends of the measuring wire hear a "beep" or the ohmmeter points to zero, it is on. Otherwise it just won't work. If the line to be measured is long, one line can be used as a common line, and the others can measure it.


If the multimeter has a buzzer, use the buzzer gear, and if it does not have a buzzer, use the resistance gear; if the buzzer sounds or the resistance value is infinite, it means that the wire is connected, otherwise it is broken.


2. The multimeter detects whether the wire is connected or not
Generally, one end is put together and the two conductors are measured. If the measured value is zero, it means a path, and the resistance value is a short circuit; the insulation performance of the two conductors is measured, and the other end is separated. The resistance value indicates that the insulation performance is good (resistance) The size of the value depends on the insulation material, the length of the cable, the environment or the temperature of the cable itself), and no resistance value indicates that the cable is connected or grounded.

 

3. Use a multimeter to test whether the circuit is smooth
Insert the red and black test leads into the resistance hole and the COM hole respectively, turn on the power of the multimeter, and dial it to the minimum resistance level. Touch the nibs of the two watches to check whether the watch is normal. It is normal for the watch to display zero or a few tenths. Then insert the tip of the meter pen into the two ends of the tested line, and the meter shows zero or a few tenths, which means the line is connected. If there are resistors or other electrical appliances in series in the line, then properly dial the high resistance gear to continue the measurement. The reading varies according to the resistance value connected in series. Do remember to cut off the power supply of the line under test before measurement.
